    1. I am a British citizen, resident in Portugal, and finding it difficult to find an RCIA programme here. I will be reaching out to the local Parish for guidance but have heard that it could be a 3 year process. This appears very long compared to RCIA in the States and UK.

    2. Welcome to the Universal Church. I have been an RCIA teacher for over 20 years. On the book, the prep time is between one and three. In practice, if you show you are ready, you will be given a fast track. Demonstrate to the RCIA Director that you are ready. Answer most of of the questions. If the Director does not cooperate, ask if you can discuss it with the pastor. What if the pastor does not cooperate, ask politely if you can try another parish. You must show why you want the exception.
      I hope this helps.
