Why, then, did you not fear to speak against my servant Moses?

"Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses..... They complained, “Is it through Moses alone that the Lord has spoken? Has he not spoken through us also?”  (Numbers 12: 1, 2).

There are all types of sins. But questioning God's authority is to be avoided at all cost. There are men and women in the Church today who question the authority of Jesus over His decision that the priesthood is a reserved ministry for men.  Is this attitude borne of culpable ignorance or presumption?

"And the Lord heard this.  Now the man Moses was very humble, more than anyone else on earth."  (Numbers 12: 2, 3)
Why, then, do you not fear to speak against my servant Moses?  And so the Lord’s wrath flared against them, and he departed."  (Numbers 12: 8-9).

Many of us will leap to defend ourselves. Why not allow God to defend us as He defended Moses.  This is the quality in the lives of saints that I admire the most. Take for example: The 35 Doctors of the Church, men and women had outrageous slander against each and every one of them. The crimes they were charged with were invariably sex or money. Even Mother St Teresa of Kolkata who was canonized about a year ago was accused of being greedy for money. This is a person whom everybody knows was as poor as a Church mouse. The attack was to make her quit begging for money for the poor. She did not fall for such trap.

Today is the Memorial of St Dominic, the holy founder of the Order of St Dominic, officially known as Order of Preachers. St Dominic had more than his fair share of all types of accusations inspired by the Satan.

St Dominic pray for us.
