Jesus touched the leper and then healed him.

"A leper came to him [and kneeling down] begged him and said, “If you wish, you can make me clean.”  Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand, touched him, and said to him, “I do will it. Be made clean.”  The leprosy left him immediately, and he was made clean."  (Mark 1: 40 - 42).

Jesus touched this leper and then healed him.

A friend of mine who had a medical emergency and was taken to the Emergency Room in a large city. During his 9 hours wait to see a doctor, he mingled with the downtrodden, the homeless, the deranged, etc.  The experience changed him.  Like Jesus, he felt he had touched the "leper".  Have you touched the leper?

The Church reminds us of many opportunities to touch the "leper" through the corporal and spiritual works of mercy:

Corporal Works of Mercy:
1. Feed the hungry
2. Give drink to the thirsty
3. Clothe the naked
4. Shelter the homeless
5. Visit the sick
6. Visit the imprisoned
7. Bury the dead

"Moved with pity, Jesus stretched out his hand, touched him, and said to him, “I do will it. Be made clean.”  (Mark 1:  41).
