MEMORIAL OF ST CECILIA, VIRGIN AND MARTYR.
MEMORIAL OF ST CECILIA, VIRGIN AND MARTYR.
"Some Sadducees, those who deny that there is a resurrection, came forward and put this question to Jesus, saying,
“Teacher, Moses wrote for us, If someone’s brother dies leaving a wife but no child, his brother must take the wife and raise up descendants for his brother?
"Now there were seven brothers; the first married a woman but died childless.
Then the second and the third married her,
and likewise all the seven died childless.
"Finally the woman also died. Now at the resurrection whose wife will that woman be? For all seven had been married to her.”
"Jesus said to them, “The children of this age marry and remarry; but those who are deemed worthy to attain to the coming age and to the resurrection of the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage.
"They can no longer die, for they are like angels; and they are the children of God because they are the ones who will rise.
"That the dead will rise even Moses made known in the passage about the bush, when he called ‘Lord’ the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob;
and he is not God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive.”
"Some of the scribes said in reply, “Teacher, you have answered well.” And they no longer dared to ask him anything." (Luke 20: 27 - 40).
In our key Scripture for today, Jesus demolished the proud argument of the Sadducees about after life and the Resurrection of the dead.
"That the dead will rise even Moses made known in the passage about the bush, when he called ‘Lord’ the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob; and he is not God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive.”
The lesson from this is:
Know the Scriptures and the teachings of the Church and you will be a Hammer of Heretics like St Catherine of Alexandria, St Augustine and St Anthony of Padua.
Even if you have to die, says the Lord, keep faithful, and I will give you the crown of life." (Revelation 2: 10).
The month of November is traditionally dedicated in the Catholic Church to honoring the dead and relieving the sufferings of the souls in purgatory. Do not neglect your loved ones.
Clement of Alexandria:
“The believer through discipline divests himself of his passions and passes to the mansion which is better than the former one, passes to the greatest torment… the greatest torments are assigned to the believer… these punishments cease in the course of the expiation and purification of each one.”

JESUS CLEANSES THE TEMPLE.
JESUS CLEANSES THE TEMPLE.
"Jesus entered the temple area and proceeded to drive out those who were selling things, saying to them,
“It is written, My house shall be a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves.”
And every day he was teaching in the temple area.
The chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people, meanwhile, were seeking to put him to death, but they could find no way to accomplish their purpose because all the people were hanging on his words." (Luke 19: 45 - 48).
Friday 21st November 2025 in 33rd Week in Ordinary Time.
Jesus entered the Temple and was shocked by what He saw.
He censored the traders defiling the holy place: "My house shall be a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves.”
The Temple/Church is a consecrated place for the worship of God.
The civil society understands the idea of respect for certain places.
The first time I went to a traffic court, I had unintentionally my baseball cap on as I stepped into the court. The police officer shouted at me to remove the cap. I obeyed.
The Church should welcome everyone into its Sanctuary for Sunday worship.
The Church teaches that it is Jesus who is the celebrant in every Mass. He is present in the person of the priest whom we see.
Have you noticed that on Sundays, the priest is dressed in the best sacred vestments?
Some people attend Sunday Mass in baseball game outfit?
If the mayor or the governor invites you for a lunch, how do you dress?
Jesus Christ deserves no less respect.
My house shall be a house of prayer.
Please do not make it a marketplace.
The Prophet Malachi foresaw the degradation of the sacred ministers of the Temple and prophesied:
"For he will be like a refiner’s fire,
like fullers’ lye. He will sit refining and purifying silver, and he will purify the Levites, refining them like gold or silver, that they may bring offerings to the Lord in righteousness." (Malachi 3: 2 - 3).
Let us continue to lift up the Church and the clergy to the mercy of God.
The month of November is traditionally dedicated in the Catholic Church to honoring the dead and relieving the sufferings of the souls in purgatory.
Pope Benedict XVI":
‘A soul stained by sin cannot present itself to God…The soul that is aware of the immense love and perfect justice of God consequently suffers for not having responded correctly and perfectly to that love,’ the pope said, adding that the suffering is purgatory. Purgatory is like a purifying fire burning inside a person, a painful experience of regret for one’s sins.”
Do not neglect your loved ones.

WHY JESUS WEPT OVER JERUSALEM?
JESUS WEPT OVER JERUSALEM.
"As Jesus drew near Jerusalem, he saw the city and wept over it, saying,
“If this day you only knew what makes for peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes.
"For the days are coming upon you when your enemies will raise a palisade against you;
they will encircle you and hem you in on all sides.
They will smash you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not leave one stone upon another within you because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.” (Luke 19: 41 - 44)."
Thursday November 20th in the 33rd Week in Ordinary Time.
In our key Scripture from Luke 19, Jesus wept over Jerusalem for two reasons:
#1. Jerusalem failed to recognize the time of the visitation of her long awaited Messiah.
#2. Jerusalem thirsted desperately for peace but the people are totally ignorant of what makes for peace.
These two conditions apply to our world today.
As we near the end of the Church Year, we are served more and more with Scriptures of the End Times.
Jesus wept for Jerusalem because they did not recognize what makes for peace.
Do we recognize what makes for peace?
Jesus the Prince of Peace knows what makes for peace. He is in truth our peace.
Romans 12: 2 shows us the secret of peace.
"Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect."
Conforming our thoughts, words and actions to the will of God is exactly what makes for peace.
The prophecy of Jesus in this Gospel was literally fulfilled in AD 70 when Jerusalem was destroyed by Emperor Titus.
This Gospel will be heard today by Catholics in America, Brazil, Europe, Africa, Australia, Israel, Palestine, Ukraine and Gaza.
"For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy [His life and teaching are the heart of prophecy].” (Revelations 19: 10 AMP).
The life and words of Jesus Christ is the spirit of prophecy.
We see with our own eyes on television this prophecy executed today.
Father, in Your will is our peace!
"I bless you and I bless those whom you entrust to the mercy of My open Heart. The light of My Face shines upon you. Believe in My love for you. I will never abandon you, never disappoint you. My plans are for your happiness, for your holiness, for your peace. Have no fear. I will do for you all that I have promised, and your heart will rejoice, and you will praise and glorify Me forever." (IN SINU JESU, Wednesday, December 19, 2007).
The month of November is traditionally dedicated in the Catholic Church to honoring the dead and relieving the sufferings of the souls in purgatory.
“If, during life, we have been kind to the suffering souls in purgatory, God will see that help be not denied us after death.” (St Paul of the Cross).

THE TEN GOLD COINS AND ACCOUNTABILITY.
BE GOOD STEWARD OF GOD'S ASSETS.
"While people were listening to Jesus speak, he proceeded to tell a parable because he was near Jerusalem and they thought that the Kingdom of God would appear there immediately.
So he said, “A nobleman went off to a distant country to obtain the kingship for himself and then to return.
He called ten of his servants and gave them ten gold coins and told them, ‘Engage in trade with these until I return.’
His fellow citizens, however, despised him and sent a delegation after him to announce,
‘We do not want this man to be our king.’
But when he returned after obtaining the kingship, he had the servants called, to whom he had given the money, to learn what they had gained by trading.
The first came forward and said, ‘Sir, your gold coin has earned ten additional ones.’
He replied, ‘Well done, good servant! You have been faithful in this very small matter; take charge of ten cities.’
Then the second came and reported, ‘Your gold coin, sir, has earned five more.’
And to this servant too he said, ‘You, take charge of five cities.’
Then the other servant came and said,
‘Sir, here is your gold coin; I kept it stored away in a handkerchief, for I was afraid of you, because you are a demanding man; you take up what you did not lay down and you harvest what you did not plant.’
He said to him, ‘With your own words I shall condemn you, you wicked servant. You knew I was a demanding man, taking up what I did not lay down and harvesting what I did not plant; why did you not put my money in a bank? Then on my return I would have collected it with interest.’
And to those standing by he said,
‘Take the gold coin from him and give it to the servant who has ten.’
But they said to him, ‘Sir, he has ten gold coins.’
He replied, ‘I tell you, to everyone who has, more will be given, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away.
Now as for those enemies of mine who did not want me as their king, bring them here and slay them before me.’”
After he had said this, he proceeded on his journey up to Jerusalem." (Luke 19: 11 - 28).
Wednesday 19th November 2025 in the 33rd Week in Ordinary Time.
Our Gospel for today is from Luke 19: 11 - 28. It is called the Parable of the Ten Gold Coins. By the standard of Gospel parables, it is long.
It is purposely detailed because Jesus is making a very important point.
We are heading to the End of the Liturgical Year and the theme of the lectionary readings inspired by the Holy Spirit for the universal Church is the End of the World themes. Jesus is heading to Jerusalem for the end of His earthly life. But He will come again.
What may be considered as the main points of the Parable of the Ten Gold Coins?
#1. Every human being is given the gifts of time, talent and treasure.
#2. At the End of Time, there will be an accountability for the use of every gift.
#3. If you do not know your gifts and your purpose in life, prayerfully invest whatever time is necessary to find out the most important information about you, your God-given Purpose. It may be the One Thing Necessary Today.
The month of November is traditionally dedicated in the Catholic Church to honoring the dead and relieving the sufferings of the souls in purgatory.
During these remaining days of November, let us double our prayers for the holy souls in Purgatory.

THE FEAST OF ST ROSE PHILIPPINE DUCHESNE, RELIGIOUS.
FEAST OF ST ROSE PHILIPPINE DUCHESNE, RELIGIOUS.
"At that time Jesus came to Jericho and intended to pass through the town.
Now a man there named Zacchaeus, who was a chief tax collector and also a wealthy man, was seeking to see who Jesus was; but he could not see him because of the crowd, for he was short in stature.
So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree in order to see Jesus, who was about to pass that way.
When he reached the place, Jesus looked up and said, “Zacchaeus, come down quickly, for today I must stay at your house.”
And he came down quickly and received him with joy.
When they saw this, they began to grumble, saying, “He has gone to stay at the house of a sinner.”
But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord,
“Behold, half of my possessions, Lord, I shall give to the poor, and if I have extorted anything from anyone I shall repay it four times over.”
And Jesus said to him,
“Today salvation has come to this house because this man too is a descendant of Abraham.
For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save what was lost.” (Luke 19: 1 - 10).
Tuesday 18th November 2025 in the 33rd Week in Ordinary Time is the feast of St Rose Philippine Duchesne. (1769 - 1852). French. Virgin and Religious.
The French Revolution disrupted the religious formation of Blessed Rose.
She waited for 11 years to join a new Congregation: The Society of the Sacred Heart.
At the age of 49, St Rose undertook her missionary journey to America. She founded schools to educate girls.
St Rose Philippine Duchesne left her native country France at the age of 49 to travel to America. She heard the urgency of the Gospel to educate little girls in America and show them the way of the love and peace of Christ.
The Lord blessed her ministry. 170 years after the death of St Rose Philippine Duchesne, Duchesne Academy continues the work of educating girls in America.
We remember today also the Dedication of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul in November 18, 1626.
Our Scripture for today is from Luke 19: 1 - 10.
Listen to what Zacchaeus says:
"But Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord, “Behold, half of my possessions, Lord, I shall give to the poor, and if I have extorted anything from anyone I shall repay it four times over.”
Zacchaeus says: If I have cheated you in any way, come forward and lay down your case. I am willing and ready to make full restitution and more.
Unfortunately, we don't know whether anyone took up the challenge.
Because Zacchaeus is a tax collector, many commentators decide that Zacchaeus is a corrupt man. The text of the Scripture does not say that. It is like saying that every politician and every lawyer is a liar and corrupt.
God says: "I do not judge a man from his lofty height and stature. I read the heart." (Cf 1 Samuel 16: 7).
Many thieves and fraudsters who are caught red handed try to negotiate the terms of the settlement. Not Zacchaeus. His attitude is: Lord, I give up everything to be a part of You and Your Enterprise.
Taking a cue from the conversion of Zacchaeus, the Church teaches:
"Jesus calls to conversion. This call is an essential part of the proclamation of the kingdom: "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe in the gospel."......... It is by faith in the Gospel and by Baptism that one renounces evil and gains salvation, that is, the forgiveness of all sins and the gift of new life." (CCC 1427).
"Above all there is My Holy Mother, My all-beautiful and Immaculate Mother Mary. She is where I am. She is close to the priest who is close to Me in the Sacrament of My love. Nothing gives so much joy to her Immaculate Heart as seeing one of her priest sons in adoration before My Eucharistic Face. She opens her hands over him—as she is doing over you at this very moment—and causes a shower of graces to fall into his soul. Love My Mother, love My Mother more and more. You will never approach the love of My own Heart for her by yourself, but I, by My free gift, can and will unite you to the love of My Sacred Heart for her. Thus will you come to experience the ineffable union of our two Hearts in your own heart." (IN SINU JESU, Thursday April 14, 2008).
November is the Month we pray for the Souls in PURGATORY.
St. Alphonsus Liguori: “The clients of this most merciful Mother (Mary) are very fortunate. She helps them both in this life and in the next, consoling them and sponsoring their cause in Purgatory… See how important it is then to have devotion to this good Lady, because she never forgets her servants as long as they suffer in these flames.”

MEMORIAL OF ST ELIZABETH OF HUNGARY, RELIGIOUS.
MEMORIAL OF ST ELIZABETH OF HUNGARY, RELIGIOUS.
"As Jesus approached Jericho a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging, and hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what was happening.
They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.”
He shouted, “Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!”
The people walking in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent, but he kept calling out all the more, “Son of David, have pity on me!”
Then Jesus stopped and ordered that he be brought to him; and when he came near, Jesus asked him,
“What do you want me to do for you?”
He replied, “Lord, please let me see.”
Jesus told him, “Have sight; your faith has saved you.”
He immediately received his sight and followed him, giving glory to God.
When they saw this, all the people gave praise to God." (Luke 18: 35 - 43).
Monday 17th November 2025, 33rd Week in Ordinary Time is the feast of St Elizabeth of Hungary. (1207 - 1231).
Elizabeth became a Religious after the death of her husband.
Born Hungarian Princess, she married a German Prince.
In her short life of only 23 years, Elizabeth had four children and then became a Franciscan Tertiary after the death of her husband.
She spent the rest of her life bringing comfort to the poor, the sick and the aged.
The Church honors her with a Memorial.
St Elizabeth pray for us.
St Mark the Evangelist identified the Blind Man in St Luke's story as Bartimaeus.
What a truly beautiful story. Won't you like to have the faith and courage of Bartimaeus? His tenacity, singleness of purpose in pursuing his goal?
The cry of Bartimaeus:
“Jesus, son of David, have pity on me.” is a most powerful prayer.
PRAYER IS THE ACTIVATOR OF POWER.
Providence honors Prayer.
Prayer honors Providence.
Pray always.
Pray everywhere.
Pray about everything.
Bartimaeus fired the bullet of Prayer. It struck the Heart of Jesus.
Our pains and trials could be the setting for the powerful and merciful intervention of the Providence of God to elevate our faith and bring us the kind of healing we need and the accomplishment of God's Plan in our lives.
"Jesus told him, “Have sight; your faith has saved you.” He immediately received his sight and followed him, giving glory to God." (Cf Mark 10: 46 - 52).
Jesus chose and called Bartimaeus to be a disciple.
Jesus’ meeting and healing of Bartimaeus today was not an accident.
There are no accidents in life.
Everything is Divine Providence.
The encounter of the Blind Bartimaeus with Jesus on that day was pure divine appointment.
Divine Providence means divine plan, divine design, divine purpose, divine foreknowledge.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that "Divine Providence is concrete and immediate." (Cf CCC 303).
Bartimaeus fired the bullet of Prayer. It hit the Heart of Jesus.
Jesus honors the Prayer with instant healing.
Jesus was delighted with the faith of Bartimaeus.
Jesus saw the faith of Bartimaeus in action.
"Jesus told him, “Have sight; your faith has saved you.”
He immediately received his sight and followed him, giving glory to God." (Cf Mark 10: 46 - 52).
November is the Month we pray for the Souls in PURGATORY.
Venerable Fulton Sheen:
“As we enter Heaven, we will see them, so many of them, coming towards us and thanking us. We will ask who they are, and they will say, ‘a poor soul you prayed for in Purgatory.”

PAY ATTENTION TO THESE WORDS.
PAY ATTENTION TO MY WORDS.
"While some people were speaking about how the temple was adorned with costly stones and votive offerings,
Jesus said, “All that you see here—the days will come when there will not be left a stone upon another stone that will not be thrown down.”
Then they asked him,
“Teacher, when will this happen? And what sign will there be when all these things are about to happen?”
He answered,
“See that you not be deceived, for many will come in my name, saying,
‘I am he,’ and ‘The time has come.’
Do not follow them!
When you hear of wars and insurrections, do not be terrified;
for such things must happen first, but it will not immediately be the end.”
"Then he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
There will be powerful earthquakes, famines, and plagues from place to place;
and awesome sights and mighty signs will come from the sky.
“Before all this happens, however, they will seize and persecute you, they will hand you over to the synagogues and to prisons, and they will have you led before kings and governors because of my name.
It will lead to your giving testimony.
Remember, you are not to prepare your defense beforehand, for I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking that all your adversaries will be powerless to resist or refute.
You will even be handed over by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends, and they will put some of you to death. You will be hated by all because of my name, but not a hair on your head will be destroyed.
By your perseverance you will secure your lives.” (Luke 21: 5 - 19).
Sunday, November 16, 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time.
Most capital cities of the world look alike. Tall skylines and highrise buildings. Shiny glass exteriors. Dazzling to the eyes of flesh.
Remember Christ's warning in today's Gospel. “All that you see here—the days will come when there will not be left a stone upon another stone that will not be thrown down.”
Do you consider this prophecy of Jesus farfetched for today?
Not at all. Rome was destroyed. Berlin was leveled to the ground. Moscow was burnt down by Napoleon.
Gaza is all but dismantled brick by brick. Russia wants to crush Ukraine to dust if they can.
Of course the prophecy in the Gospel of today is specific to Jerusalem.
Jerusalem met its nemesis in 70 AD when Emperor Vespatian and his son Titus executed God's judgment on Jerusalem.
Regard Jerusalem as a type.
What is the meaning of the prophecy for us today?
Do not despise the word of God.
Watch rather the signs of the End Times.
The End may be near. Watch and pray that you may not succumb to vile temptations.
The month of November is traditionally dedicated in the Catholic Church to honoring the dead and relieving the sufferings of the souls in purgatory.
