and compassionate toward all his works." (Cf Responsorial Psalm 145).
Monday 8th July 2024 in the 14th Week in Ordinary Time.
Reading the daily Mass Scriptures for today Monday, I was struck by the Responsorial Psalm 145.
I ask myself: How much do I know that the Lord is gracious and merciful to me?
Do I know that the Lord is gracious and merciful to all the things He created?
If we know this truth, it will change how we see ourselves and how we see and interact with each other and with creation.
One of the insights that blesses me every day is that our love for God is in direct proportion to our awareness of God's love for us.
Whenever I affirm the truth after experiencing God's love and mercy in these words:
"The Lord is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger and of great kindness.
The Lord is good to all
and compassionate toward all his works," my awareness and enjoyment of God’s love and mercy is boosted.
The Church honors the Most Precious Blood of Jesus Christ in July.
Most Precious Blood of Jesus Christ purify and heal us.
Why does the Catholic Church devote the whole month of July to honoring the Most Precious Blood of Jesus Christ? I confess that I don't really know the answer. But what I am discovering through studies about the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ is astounding.
May the Lord who is gracious and merciful open our minds and hearts to this truth so that we may enjoy all the blessings and indulgences intended for us through this high mystery. Amen!
