DEFEAT HYPOCRISY.
TWO SIMPLE WAYS TO BEAT HYPOCRISY AND UNTRUTH.
THE GOSPEL:
"Jesus said: “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites.
You pay tithes of mint and dill and cummin, and have neglected the weightier things of the law:
judgment and mercy and fidelity.
But these you should have done, without neglecting the others.
Blind guides, who strain out the gnat and swallow the camel!
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites.
You cleanse the outside of cup and dish, but inside they are full of plunder and self-indulgence.
Blind Pharisee, cleanse first the inside of the cup, so that the outside also may be clean.” (Matthew 23 - 26).

What are the themes of today's catechesis? Hypocrisy and Blind Guides.
Hypocrisy is pure and simple untruthfullness. Being a blind guide is an inordinate desire to lead and to teach before you are qualified. Like a doctor practicing before certification.
Both hypocrisy and being a blind guide are not incurable spiritual conditions.
As a matter of fact, most Christians are affected by the two spiritual malaise. The cure for both is Humility.
I like the prescription of St Philip Neri on how to acquire Humility. St Philip Neri who is a very gifted spiritual director and confessor recommends frequent Confession as antidote to pride.
Although most Marian authors in my experience never associate directly devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and acquiring the gift of Humility, it is difficult for me not to imagine such a benefit. Mary’s greatest gift is Humility. An accepted axiom says: We become like our friends. So one of the most direct means of beating hypocrisy and untruth is to say the Holy Rosary every day.
August is the Month dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Mary says: "In the end. My Immaculate Heart will triumph."
