YOU CANNOT LOVE GOD AND MONEY.
YOU CANNOT LOVE GOD AND MONEY.
"Holy Mother Church dedicates the 30 Days of November to thinking and praying for the Holy Souls in Purgatory. As we think and pray for them, we remember the Last Four Things:.
Death, Judgment, Heaven and Hell.
What a great gift from the Church of this Memento Morris. (Remember you shall die).
"Jesus said to his disciples:
“I tell you, make friends for yourselves with dishonest wealth, so that when it fails, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings.
"The person who is trustworthy in very small matters is also trustworthy in great ones;
and the person who is dishonest in very small matters is also dishonest in great ones.
"If, therefore, you are not trustworthy with dishonest wealth, who will trust you with true wealth?
"If you are not trustworthy with what belongs to another, who will give you what is yours?
"No servant can serve two masters.
He will either hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other.
You cannot serve God and mammon.”
"The Pharisees, who loved money, heard all these things and sneered at him.
"And Jesus said to them,
“You justify yourselves in the sight of others, but God knows your hearts; for what is of human esteem is an abomination in the sight of God.” (Luke 16: 9 - 15).
Saturday 8th November 2025 in the 31st week of Ordinary Time is the Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
What is dishonest wealth? Dishonest wealth is any material possession above your concrete needs which is obtained dishonestly.
Who then will your dishonest wealth belong to?
Many Church Fathers notably Saints Ambrose and John Chrysostom teach that they belong to the poor.
That extra car, coat, shoes, cash belong to the poor.
All belong to the poor who are in need of these necessities right here and right now.
They do not belong to your grandchildren who are not yet born and may never be born.
What will be your reward if you obey God on this?
"My God will fully supply whatever you need, in accord with his glorious riches in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4: 19).
What if you choose to live in disobedience to this commandment?
Then understand clearly: "No servant can serve two masters. He will either hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”"
November is the Month we pray for the Souls in PURGATORY.
St. Francis de Sales:
“With Charity towards the dead, we practice all the works of charity. The Church encourages us to aid the souls in Purgatory, who in turn will reward us abundantly when they come into their glory.”
