Let go and live!

"Whoever seeks to preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses it will save it." (Luke 17: 33).

When you deny yourself anything, you lose your life a little.  The Church encourages us during Lent and in a lesser degree in the Advent Season to lose our life a little through Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving. As we do this, we recall the example of Jesus:
"No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends."  (John 15: 13).

"Jesus said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it."  (Luke 9: 23 - 24).

How might you respond?

"I let go of my desire for security." 
"I let go of my desire for affection ."
"I let go of my desire for control ."
"I let go of my desire to change the situation ."
"I let go of my desire for perfect health ."
"I let go of my desire for perfect family harmony ."
"I let go of my desire for the perfect job."
