Follow the Narrow Way. 

"Jesus said to his disciples: 

“Do not give what is holy to dogs, or throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them underfoot, and turn and tear you to pieces.

“Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. This is the Law and the Prophets.

“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many."

 

How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it are few.” (Matthew 7: 6, 12 - 14).

Tuesday June 27th 2023 in the 12th Week of Ordinary Time is the feast of St Cyril of Alexandria, Bishop and Doctor of the Church. (376 - 444). 

FOLLOW THE NARROW WAY

Cyril played a crucial role in the Council of Ephesus in 431 AD to defend the oneness of the person in Jesus Christ, true God and true Man.

If Jesus is One Person, then the Blessed Virgin Mary is the Mother of God (Theotokos).

St Cyril listened to the words of Christ, meditated long on them.  During the crisis of faith that engulfed Christiandom in the middle of the 5th century, Cyril did not collapse from the virulent and battering attacks of heretics. His house "had been set solidly on rock."

“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many."

Here is the word that struck me in the Gospel of today. 

What is the NarrowWay? The NarrowWay is the Way of the Way. Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life. 

Jesus the Way imparted His teachings and examples to the Twelve. 

According to the testimony and examples of the Saints who followed Jesus along the NarrowWay, below are some of the elements of the NarrowWay:

• Prayer. 

• Word of God. 

• Eucharist. 

• Reconciliation. 

• Examination of conscience. 

• Spiritual Reading. 

• Faith Sharing/Ministry. 

The NarrowWay also includes some cultic elements:

• • The Sacred Heart of Jesus. 

  • Marian cultus. 

  • The Cult of the Communion of the Saints, etc

The Church observes the Cultus of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in June.
