THE FEAST OF ST JOSEPH THE WORKER.
FEAST OF ST JOSEPH THE WORKER.
"Jesus said to his disciples: “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine grower. He takes away every branch in me that does not bear fruit, and every one that does he prunes so that it bears more fruit.
"You are already pruned because of the word that I spoke to you.
"Remain in me, as I remain in you. Just as a branch cannot bear fruit on its own unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in me.
"I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing.
"Anyone who does not remain in me will be thrown out like a branch and wither; people will gather them and throw them into a fire and they will be burned.
"If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you. By this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples.” (John 15: 1 - 8).
May 1st 2024, Feast of St Joseph the Worker.
God the Father prunes us so that we can bear much fruit like St Joseph whose feast we celebrate under the title of St Joseph the Worker.
Who is St Joseph?
St Joseph is a humble and upright man, chosen and qualified by God from eternity to be the husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
He was a carpenter by trade and from the account of mystics, not a very successful one. People took advantage of the goodness of his heart.
God chose Joseph before the world began to be the foster father of the Lord Jesus Christ. In this role, Jesus became an apprentice carpenter under Joseph. Joseph taught Jesus how to become a gentleman.
Joseph talked little but dreamed much. God used dream to communicate with Joseph. The angel informed Joseph in a dream to accept Mary because her pregnancy is from God.
As patron saint of workers, Joseph teaches us to take work very seriously. God ordained work for every man and woman. Children are not exempt from work. Their schooling is their work.
Let us honor St Joseph and ask for his intercession for our work. Joseph is also the patron saint of a Happy Death and purity.
St Joseph pray for us.
