How to survive the Great Distress

Have you washed your robe in the Blood of the Lamb?

"Then one of the twenty-four Elders asked me, “Do you know who these are, who are clothed in white, and where they come from?”

“No, sir,” I replied. “Please tell me.”

“These are the ones coming out of the Great Tribulation,” he said; “they washed their robes and whitened them by the blood of the Lamb."  (Revelation 7: 13-14  TLB)

The Choice, the Call and Gifts of God are Irrevocable

The Lord will not abandon his people.

"For God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable. [He never withdraws them when once they are given, and He does not change His mind about those to whom He gives His grace or to whom He sends His call.]"
(Romans 11:29 AMP)

"Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man whom You discipline and instruct, O Lord, and teach out of Your law."

Don't have a different standard for your neighbor

Why do you have a different standard for your neighbor?

"Then he turned to them and said, “Which of you doesn’t work on the Sabbath? If your son or your cow falls into a pit, don’t you rush to get him out?”
Again they could not answer."
(Luke 14:5-6 NLT)

If God promotes you, who can say nay

Who will condemn us if God has cleared our name?

"If God is for us, who can be against us?
He did not spare his own Son
but handed him over for us all,
how will he not also give us everything else along with him?

Who will bring a charge against God’s chosen ones?"  (Romans 8: 31-33 RM)

Now we are family with Jesus and citizens of Heaven

Living apart from Christ Jesus is exclusion from citizenship in Heaven.

"Therefore you are no longer outsiders (exiles, migrants, and aliens, excluded from the rights of citizens), but you now share citizenship with the saints (God’s own people, consecrated and set apart for Himself); and you belong to God’s [own] household."

"You are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets with Christ Jesus Himself the chief Cornerstone."

Be patient. The reward is unbelievable!

The reward will greatly surpass the waiting.  Wait for it.

"Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will give us later.

For all creation is waiting patiently and hopefully for that future day  when God will resurrect his children."  (Romans 8: 18-19  TLB)

The Holy Spirit gives us a foretaste of our future glory

How do we become truly members of God's family?

"For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

And so we should not be like cringing, fearful slaves, but we should behave like God’s very own children, adopted into the bosom of his family, and calling to him, “Father,  Father.”    For his Holy Spirit speaks to us deep in our hearts and tells us that we really are God’s children."  (Romans 8: 14 - 16 TLB)

Lord, I want to see

"What do you want me to do for you?' The blind man said to him, 'Rabbuni, let me see again'" (Mark 10:51)New Jerusalem Bible

Suppose Jesus asks you: "What do you want me to do for you?" How would you reply?   If I sense Jesus asking me the question,  my answer would depend on my circumstances.  In periods of ill-health, I want instant healing. When my car is in deep trouble, I desire a new car.   Jesus complained to St Maria Faustina that our desires are too petty and always  circumstantial.   Bartimaeus wanted to see people and God’s beautiful creation.   Jesus praised his faith.

When God asked Solomon what he wanted most, Solomon's request pleased God. Why? Because the king had asked for wisdom -- not for his own benefit, but so he could rule Israel according to God's purpose. God wants us to choose wisely and in accordance with His will. In the Lord's prayer, Jesus taught us what to pray for. God's will is paramount. He showed an example in Gethsemane when in terrible anguish, he groaned: "My Father,..not what I want but what you want" (Matthew 26:39)

Bartimaeus' prayer brought him physical and spiritual vision. Jesus always gives more than we ask for. He wants us to pray with confidence for all our needs, but he also desires we place spiritual well-being above material comfort. The world needs people with spiritual vision. "Without vision the people perish" (Proverbs 29: 18). The prophet Hosea writes: "My people perish for want of knowledge." (Hosea 4:6) May God help us to pray with Bartimaeus: Lord, that we may see!

Accept and enjoy your freedom through the Spirit of life

I am now free from compulsive behavior to sin.  Thank You Jesus, Savior and Redeemer.

"There  is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit."
(Romans 8:1 NKJV)

"And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death."

Do not be wise and learned in your own eyes.

The wise and the learned miss the simple truths of eternal life

"At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children."

"Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do."

Thank You Jesus for delivering me from this End.

Do not follow the advice and tips of the wicked.

"But now that you've found you don't have to listen to sin tell you what to do, and have discovered the delight of listening to God telling you, what a surprise! A whole, healed, put-together life right now, with more and more of life on the way! Work hard for sin your whole life and your pension is death. But God's gift is real life, eternal life, delivered by Jesus, our Master."
(Romans 6:22-23 MSG)

"For the LORD watches over the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction."
(Psalm 1:6 NLT)

The Lord will save us from the raging anger of men

Who was your help when men rose up against you?

"Had not the LORD been with us, let Israel say, had not the LORD been with us?
When men rose up against us, then would they have swallowed us alive; When their fury was inflamed against us."

Our help is in the name of the Lord.

"Then would the waters have overwhelmed us;
The torrent would have swept over us; over us then would have swept the raging waters.
Blessed be the LORD, who did not leave us  a prey to their teeth."

Yes Lord, I will do your will

Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will.

"Sacrifice or oblation you wished not, but ears open to obedience you gave me.
Burnt offerings or sin‑offerings you sought not; then said I, “Behold I come.”

Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will.

“In the written scroll it is prescribed for me,
To do your will, O my God, is my delight, and your law is within my heart!”

Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will.

I announced your justice in the vast assembly; I did not restrain my lips, as you, O LORD, know."  (Psalm 40:7-8a, 8b-9, 10 RM)

Please No Unbelief. No Doubt.

May Unbelief never prevent you from entering your Promised Land!

"No unbelief or distrust made him waver (doubtingly question) concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong and was empowered by faith as he gave praise and glory to God,
Fully satisfied and assured that God was able and mighty to keep His word and to do what He had promised."

"That is why his faith was credited to him as righteousness (right standing with God).

      -  Yes Lord, I will testify to you!

For the Holy Spirit will teach you at that moment what you should say.”

Lord, let your mercy be on us, as we place our trust in you.

"For we do not have a high priest
who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses,
but one who has similarly been tested in every way,
   yet without sin.
So let us confidently approach the throne of grace
to receive mercy and to find grace for timely help."  (Hebrews 4: 14 -  16 RM)

God cares deeply for you

All the wild animals are fed by God.

"Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And [yet] not one of them is forgotten or uncared for in the presence of God."

"But [even] the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not be struck with fear or seized with alarm; you are of greater worth than many [flocks] of sparrows."

My soul is waiting for the LORD

With the Lord there is mercy, and fullness of redemption.

"Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD; LORD, hear my voice!
Let your ears be attentive
to my voice in supplication."

With the Lord there is mercy, and fullness of redemption.

"I trust in the LORD;
my soul trusts in his word.
My soul waits for the LORD
more than sentinels wait for the dawn."  (Psalm 130: 1-2, 5-6  RM)

With the Lord there is mercy, and fullness of redemption.

" Let nothing trouble you,
let nothing frighten you.
All things are passing;
God never changes.
Patience obtains all things.
He who possesses God lacks nothing: God alone suffices."  (St Teresa of Avila)

The reason why God is so patient with us

Don't despise God's kindness and patience

"But you who are judging another for doing what you do yourself, are you hoping that God's decision will not take effect against you? Or is it nothing to you that God had pity on you, waiting and putting up with you for so long, not seeing that in his pity God's desire is to give you a change of heart?"
(Romans 2:3-4 BBE)

"Only in God is my soul at rest;
from him comes my salvation.
He only is my rock and my salvation, my stronghold; I shall not be disturbed at all. (Psalm 62: 2 - 3 RM)

Are you ashamed of sharing the GoodNews?

“Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people." (Luke 2: 10 NLT)

"It's news I'm most proud to proclaim, this extraordinary Message of God's powerful plan to rescue everyone who trusts him, starting with Jews and then right on to everyone else!

"God's way of putting people right shows up in the acts of faith, confirming what Scripture has said all along: "The person in right standing before God by trusting him really lives."
