WHAT IS ETERNAL LIFE? 

THE GOODNEWS:

"Jesus raised his eyes to heaven and said,

 “Father, the hour has come. Give glory to your son, so that your son may glorify you,

 just as you gave him authority over all people, so that your son may give eternal life to all you gave him.

Now this is eternal life, 

that they should know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ.

I glorified you on earth by accomplishing the work that you gave me to do.

 Now glorify me, Father, with you, with the glory that I had with you before the world began.

“I revealed your name to those whom you gave me out of the world. 

They belonged to you, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. 

Now they know that everything you gave me is from you, because the words you gave to me I have given to them,

 and they accepted them and truly understood that I came from you,

 and they have believed that you sent me. 

I pray for them. 

I do not pray for the world but for the ones you have given me, because they are yours, 

and everything of mine is yours and everything of yours is mine,

 and I have been glorified in them.

 And now I will no longer be in the world, but they are in the world,

 while I am coming to you.” (John 17: 1 - 11).

Tuesday 19th May in 7th Week in Easter Time. 

In the rich Gospel of today, Jesus permitted His disciples and us to overhear His conversation with His Heavenly Father. 

How would you react if you were one of the disciples? 

Jesus now defines Eternal life. 

This is a subject of huge interest in religion. 

If this life ends with natural death 60, 80 or 90 years later, then it is worth very little. 

What is Eternal Life? 

"Now this is eternal life, that they should know you, the only true God, and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ."

 Jesus teaches that eternal life begins with the knowledge of the Eternal Father. 

To know the Eternal Father is to know the Creator of Heaven and Earth.

 It is to know His Son Jesus the Christ. 

It is to know the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of life. 

Finally it is to know your place in the Cosmos. 

The Prophet Daniel says:

"The people who know their God will be strong and take action." (Daniel 11: 32).

Knowledge is conditio sine qua non in Religion. 

How much time do you spend in the Word of God? 

You know the Heart of God from the Mouth of God, teaches St Ambrose, Bishop and Doctor of the Church. 

Invest in the Word of God and you will begin to believe that eternal life starts here and now and continues in Heaven after our death. 

The Church honors the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Month of May.

2. "Mary is so compassionate that she even anticipates our prayers, seeking out the miserable to offer them her protection."

3. "As the earth is filled with the mercy of the Lord, so heaven and earth are filled with the maternal protection of Mary."
