THE FEAST OF ST RITA OF CASCIA, RELIGIOUS AND MYSTIC.
FEAST OF ST RITA OF CASCIA.
DO YOU LOVE ME?
GOODNEWS:
"After Jesus had revealed himself to his disciples and eaten breakfast with them, he said to Simon Peter,
“Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?”
"Simon Peter answered him, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”
"Jesus said to him, “Feed my lambs.”
He then said to Simon Peter a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?”
Simon Peter answered him,
“Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.”
"He said to him the third time,
“Simon, son of John, do you love me?”
"Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him,
“Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.”
"Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep. Amen, amen, I say to you, when you were younger, you used to dress yourself and go where you wanted; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.”
He said this signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God.
And when he had said this, he said to him,
“Follow me.” (John 21: 15 - 19).
Friday May 22nd in the 7th Week in Easter Tide is the Feast of St Rita of Cascia.
St. Rita of Cascia (1381–1457) was an Italian widow and Augustinian nun known for her deep faith, patience in suffering, and devotion to peace.
Born in Roccaporena near Cascia, she endured a difficult marriage, the loss of her husband and sons, and later entered religious life, where she became widely honored as the saint of impossible causes.
She is especially remembered for her trust in God amid hardship, her peacemaking spirit, and her powerful intercession.
Her feast day is May 22.
In this dramatic exchange between Jesus and Peter in the Gospel of today, Jesus asked Peter a point blank question:
"Do you love me?”
Jesus asks you and me: "Do you love me?”
'Yes Lord I love You.'
Jesus then said: Show Me that you love Me.
'Lord Jesus, Your Holy Spirit of love is in me. He helps me to love You.
He shows me how to love You.
Thank You Jesus for the Holy Spirit You poured into our hearts. Without Him, I can do absolutely nothing.'
Pentecost Sunday is May 24th.
Prepare yourself to Receive the Holy Spirit.
Without the Holy Spirit, we can not love Jesus. We can do absolutely nothing good.
